James Elson
James has spent more than 20 years building products, teams, and businesses from zero to scale, including leading multiple business units and brands past $100M in revenue. He has held senior leadership roles in complex, regulated technology and consumer companies, helping turn early-stage ideas into commercial products and durable businesses, from startups to global brands. His founding of Attune is grounded in his lived experience as a parent of neurodivergent children, shaped by their diagnoses, school battles, and emotional storms, which has him focused on the gap between well‑meaning systems and the real help families need and receive
How It Started
Yes the science started in a lab and was proven in a clinic, but Attune came to life in my home and the homes of those that supported the research. Attune was born in the real world, not in a boardroom.
I watched my daughter fight for good grades while losing friends, being bullied because of her emotional outbursts from managing her diagnosis, while carrying a level of anxiety that most adults couldn’t handle. I saw my son go from being seen as a threat to becoming part of a thriving social community when the right adults finally understood what he needed, and then I watched how fragile that stability can be when systems fail. I have had more than one moment in a schoolyard or hallway where a child, one of mine or someone in our community, is in full distress, an adult is doing their best, and everyone is still losing.
I also saw Attune on my daughter’s wrist, and watched her light up because a device could show her that she is escalating before things go off the rails. That tiny window, that sense of “I can see it coming, and I can do something” is the spark and the gravitational pull that is driving me to make sure that others can have the hope and confidence I saw in her in that moment.
Professionally, I’ve built. From wearables and apps to data platforms and high‑regulatory infrastructure. I’ve grown multiple product lines from a zero or a few million to six figures and helped raise of millions in funding. I am an optimist but not a fictional dreamer and I am not chasing an abstract “opportunity.” I found something that is consuming for all the right reasons, and Attune chose me as much as I chose Attune.
